ONErpm: From Global Force to Local Game-Changer

So, what makes ONErpm stand out? Beyond traditional distribution, the company offers full label services, catalog deals, joint ventures, and innovative marketing strategies tailored to each artist’s unique journey. Simply put—it’s more than a label. It’s a platform designed to help artists grow and thrive sustainably.

How PR Transforms The #1 Storytelling Mistake Brands Make

Monday, August 25, 2025

Millions of brands fight to own the narrative every day, but not all of them succeed. Their mistake? They put themselves at the center of the story instead of their audience.

In the Philippines, many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) make the same storytelling flaw. Your customers want to be the hero, and your role is to guide, support, and inspire them.

When you take this approach in storytelling, you can turn casual buyers into loyal advocates. Here’s how you can produce stories that grab attention and retain connections.

The #1 Brand Storytelling Mistake: Making It All About You

When businesses talk only about their achievements, products, or milestones without connecting to their audience’s needs or values, they unintentionally push people away.

For example:

● Too much self-promotion: “We’ve been in business for 20 years!” Good to know, but why should customers care?

● Overly technical jargon: “Our proprietary solution uses next-gen algorithms to optimize workflow…” Sounds smart, but confusing.

● No emotional hook: “Buy now before the promo ends.” Where’s the connection?

Effective brand storytelling is about making your customer the protagonist while positioning your brand as the dependable guide who helps them reach victory.

Why This Mistake Hurts Your Business

When your story is too focused on yourself, your audience quickly tunes out. People will just scroll past you if your content doesn’t speak to their needs. You also lose the emotional connection that comes from shared values and empathy, leaving your message sounding more like a hard sell than a genuine story.

In our current ad-ridden digital landscape, nothing drives people away faster than sounding too salesy. In fact, Edelman’s Trust Barometer found that 81% of consumers need to trust a brand before making a purchase. Building that trust requires not only self-promotion, but also relevance, empathy, and authenticity.

What Good PR Storytelling Looks Like

Good PR storytelling in the Philippines banks on relationships and community ties. These traits are important in crafting your narrative:

  • Audience-focused: Stories begin with the customer’s perspective.
  • Authentic and relatable: Draw from real experiences, not just marketing copy.
  • Value-driven: Share how your brand improves lives, not just products.
  • Culturally aware: Tap into Filipino values like bayanihan (community spirit) or pakikisama (harmony).

For example, instead of “We launched a new eco-friendly packaging,” a PR agency in the Philippines can frame it as:

“A small bakery in Quezon City helped reduce 500 kg of plastic waste in their barangay. Here’s how your own business can do it too.”

This shifts the story from self-promotion to impact and community value.

How a PR Agency Can Help You Fix This Mistake

A seasoned PR agency that understands both traditional and digital media can help transform your storytelling by:

1. Identifying Your Core Narrative

PR professionals know how to extract the most relatable parts of your brand’s journey. They’ll help you frame stories around your mission, customer successes, and cultural touchpoints that resonate in the local market.

2. Finding the Right Platforms

A good story falls flat if no one hears it. PR agencies use their media connections in print, TV, radio, and online to amplify your story to the right audiences. Your content can shine in a lifestyle magazine in Manila or a community Facebook group in Cebu.

3. Ensuring Consistent Messaging

In integrated marketing communications (IMC), consistency builds credibility. PR agencies align your press releases, social media posts, interviews, and blog articles so your audience hears the same values and voice everywhere.

4. Using Data to Shape Stories

With media monitoring and sentiment analysis, PR pros can track which stories resonate and adjust messaging accordingly. This avoids wasted effort on narratives that don’t land.

5. Turning Everyday Moments into PR Wins

A small act can become a full-fledged brand story if packaged well. Experienced PR agencies know how to spot and amplify these moments.

Why Good PR Is Essential for Success

In the Philippines, word-of-mouth still drives much of purchasing behavior, which makes public relations about publicity and credibility. Good PR ensures you’re telling the right stories to the right people, building trust and loyalty instead of pushing empty sales, and positioning your brand as authentic, relevant, and socially aware.

Without that expertise, even well-meaning efforts can fall flat or, worse, harm your reputation

Manila Prince Hotel Showcases Masterpiece Gown by Celebrated Designer Ryan Chris

Thursday, August 14, 2025

Filipino artistry takes center stage at the Manila Prince Hotel as it proudly displays a stunning bridal gown crafted by renowned fashion and wedding designer Ryan Chris. This elegant piece, now featured at the hotel’s showroom, is a continuation of the glamour witnessed during the first-ever Manila Bridal Fair held last July 26–27, 2024 at the Grand Ballroom.

The event, which featured a dazzling bridal fashion show, saw Ryan’s creations win hearts for their modern sophistication blended with timeless elegance — a signature style that has made him one of the country’s most sought-after designers.

A Designer with a Timeless Vision

As CEO and President of Ryan Chris House of Fashion, Ryan has built a brand that champions refined silhouettes, soft ivory tones, and understated details. His designs often weave in elements from Philippine heritage, paying homage to traditional craftsmanship while giving it a fresh, contemporary twist.

From a young age, Ryan knew fashion was his calling. A wedding-themed coloring book from his grandmother sparked a fascination that would evolve into a celebrated career.

“My journey has always been about creativity, perseverance, and telling each bride’s unique story through her gown,” Ryan shared. “This partnership with Manila Prince Hotel is about inspiring others and celebrating timeless beauty.”

From Childhood Sketches to Iconic Fashion Shows

Ryan’s path to becoming a designer was anything but ordinary. He began in the wedding industry as a planner, helping brides choose gowns before deciding to design them himself. Over the years, he has staged fashion shows featuring over 100 original looks and participated in charity events such as Ofrendas de Flores and Sketches + Stitches, which support indigenous students and children battling cancer.

A Celebration of Filipino Creativity

Manila Prince Hotel Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Marvin Kim Tan, expressed the hotel’s pride in partnering with Ryan:

“His designs embody the style and quality we value. We are delighted to showcase his work and support Filipino talent.”

Visitors can now view Ryan Chris’s exquisite gown up close at the Manila Prince Hotel showroom, an experience that not only showcases fine craftsmanship but also celebrates the vibrant creativity of Philippine fashion.

Whether you’re a bride-to-be, a fashion enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates artistry, this display is worth visiting. It’s a rare opportunity to witness how one Filipino designer transforms heritage and modernity into a piece of wearable art.

Muri and Shigge Drop Cross-Cultural Dance EP “SETSUNA” Celebrating the Beauty of Impermanence

Tuesday, August 12, 2025

When Filipino Soul Meets Japanese Beats

What happens when a Filipino indie pop/soul artist teams up with a Japanese electronic producer? You get SETSUNA — a fresh, genre-bending EP that captures the fleeting beauty of life’s moments while making you want to move to the beat.

Released by Muri in collaboration with Shigge, this 4-track record blends pop, soul, and intricate dance production, offering a unique soundscape that’s both emotional and electrifying. The title “SETSUNA” comes from the Japanese word for “instant,” perfectly capturing the project’s theme: impermanence in a fast-paced world.

A Sonic Journey Through Fleeting Moments

Created remotely between Manila, Tokyo, and London, the EP merges cultural influences and styles in a seamless, hypnotic way:

Afternoon – Starts breezy and chill, then suddenly shifts into an adrenaline-pumping drum n’ bass groove.

Bad News – Infectious grooves and pulsing beats that feel freeing and vibrant.

Midnight Calls – An after-hours anthem with late-night energy and smooth sophistication.

Sayaw – A bilingual dance floor delight mixing English and Filipino lyrics, soulful melodies, and heavy bass.

The result? A record that’s as unpredictable as life itself — playful yet profound.

Behind the Collaboration

Muri admits the project wasn’t always smooth sailing. Working across different countries and styles meant navigating unfamiliar creative territory.

“The first song we did together felt uncomfortable at first because it was out of our comfort zone,” Muri shares. “But in the end, that uncertainty made it exciting. We didn’t know how it would turn out, but we both loved what we created.”

This willingness to experiment is exactly what gives SETSUNA its charm — it’s fearless, boundary-pushing, and alive with personality.

Why It Matters to OPM Fans

Filipino listeners will love how “Sayaw” injects Pinoy flavor into a global collaboration, proving OPM can hold its own on the world stage. In an era where artists can collaborate across continents without leaving their home studios, SETSUNA is a prime example of music’s power to transcend borders.

If you’re craving music that makes you dance while also making you reflect, add SETSUNA to your playlist. Whether you’re chilling at home or out for the night, Muri and Shigge’s cross-cultural beats will keep you hitting replay.

To add a surprising twist to the game, teams who accumulate the most scoring points across all games will receive the “Own the Court” bonus that will help them advance to the next stage. Making the game faster and more intense, 3-point shots can be made from two special circles located behind the arc.

Red Bull Half Court, in partnership with 7-Eleven, ups the intensity for its 2025 season in the Philippines with a new 2-day competition structure for qualifier rounds. Regional qualifiers will take place in Davao on August 30 and 31, Cebu on September 13 and 14, and Manila on September 27 and 28. Your Passport to the World: Why More Healthcare Professionals Are Choosing OET

Thursday, July 31, 2025

For many Filipinos, working abroad isn’t just a dream, it’s a milestone, a path to financial security, and a testament to personal and professional growth. As global healthcare systems evolve, the demand for skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals has never been higher. That’s why more Filipino professionals are turning to OET, the global leader in English language testing designed for healthcare.

OET is more than a language test, it’s a trusted bridge to global careers. By assessing communication in real medical contexts, it ensures healthcare workers are equipped to meet international standards from day one. This context-based approach strengthens candidates’ competence and enhances their ability to connect with patients.

“The OET Test is specifically designed to assess healthcare professionals in the context of their daily practice,” said Jaime Cortes, OET Chief Executive Officer. “It enables them to demonstrate their communication skills using the language they already use on the job, whether that’s explaining symptoms to a patient, writing a referral, or coordinating care with colleagues. It’s more than a test, it’s a reflection of how healthcare is delivered in the real world.”

Confidence, Competitiveness, and Career Growth

There is a specific advantage offered to healthcare professionals who choose to sit the OET Test – it uses real life medical scenarios. This approach prepares candidates not only for OET and other clinical exams like the NCLEX or OSCE, but also for real-world challenges in the healthcare industry.

By focusing on clinical communication, not just academic English, the OET Test enhances a candidate’s ability to speak, write, listen, and read in a medical setting. This familiarity builds confidence, boosts performance, and makes OET a strategic choice for those aiming to thrive in global healthcare environments.

By passing the OET Test, doors are opened to careers in countries where demand for qualified healthcare workers is high. Employers worldwide trust OET candidates for their proven ability to communicate effectively in clinical settings, making them more competitive and job-ready.

Gaining Ground in the U.S.

With healthcare worker shortages in the United States, the demand for internationally trained professionals is growing, especially for Filipino nurses, who now make up an estimated 4% of the U.S. nursing population.

OET’s Test is officially accepted for nursing licensure and healthcare worker certification in major U.S. states, including Florida, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York, all home to large Filipino communities and high healthcare hiring demand.

Further exemplifying its validity, the OET Test is also recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), a global leader in promoting quality healthcare, enabling access to U.S. residency programs and licensure for internationally trained professionals.

“These are high-opportunity markets for Filipino nurses,” explained Cortes. “What sets the OET test apart is its relevance. U.S. regulators and employers know that OET Test passers aren’t just fluent in English, they’re fluent in healthcare communication.”

Recognizing that passing the test is only part of a larger journey, OET has developed free, user-friendly tools to help candidates plan their move to the U.S. more confidently. Some of these include:

• OET’s downloadable U.S. Destination Guide - This function provides an overview of licensure requirements, helpful context about the American healthcare system and offers practical insights on how to launch a successful healthcare career in the United States.

• OET's Who Recognizes search tool, which allows candidates to find U.S. institutions that accept OET(filterable by minimum score and test mode accepted) -ultimately helping users streamline their applications and set clearer and realistic goals.

These resources are designed to help Filipino professionals succeed in the global healthcare arena by allowing them to focus on what matters most: preparing for their new careers.

Globally Recognized, Healthcare Specific

Recognized by over 450 organizations worldwide, including top regulators, hospitals, and universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Canada, passing the test opens a world of opportunity.

“OET empowers candidates by focusing on what matters most: the ability to care, collaborate, and communicate in real clinical settings,” Cortes added. “When you pass the OET Test, you’re not just proving your English, you’re proving you’re ready.”

For many Filipinos, taking the OET Test is more than a career move, it’s a step toward growth, stability, and the chance to uplift their families. It’s an opportunity to turn years of experience and dedication into success in the global workplace.OET isn’t just a test. It’s your passport to a more secure, fulfilling future, for you and your family.

ABOUT OET

Officially opened on July 16, 2025, the exhibit runs through August 16, 2025, offering hotel guests and art enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Veneracion’s signature aesthetic philosophy.

Lucid Dreaming Roy Veneracion

A pioneering force in the Philippine contemporary art, Veneracion is widely recognized for his use of Aesthetic Syncretism, a practice that interweaves seemingly opposing ideas, cultural references, and disparate visual idioms into a cohesive artistic language. Through this method, he creates intricate works that defy categorization and challenge conventional artistic norms. The 9-piece exhibit features a selection of Veneracion’s works, from translucent abstract compositions and bold, expressive brushstrokes to deeply symbolic and layered mixed-media pieces.

Who Cares Roy Veneracion

Wolf Alice return with brand new single ‘The Sofa’

Friday, July 18, 2025

Wolf Alice The Sofa

Generational British band Wolf Alice share new single, ‘The Sofa’ - another dimension to their highly anticipated fourth studio album The Clearing confirmed for release on August 22nd. Following a triumphant return to the stage with headlining festival performances at Primavera - where they unveiled ‘The Sofa’ for one of the first times, had thousands singing along - and a history-defining Glastonbury set on home soil, this new era announces Wolf Alice as a band who are in a league entirely of their own.

‘The Sofa’ is the album’s psychological portrait which is a microcosm of the wider themes it reckons with: falling in love with your life for exactly what it is and finally letting go of unrealised dreams without shame, guilt or disappointment as you grow older. Unspooling like a daydream on an idle afternoon, ‘The Sofa’ is a piano ballad fortified by the best songwriting of Ellie Rowsell’s career - radical in its unflinching honesty. “Didn’t make it out to California / Where I thought I might clean the slate / Feels a little like I’m stuck in Seven Sisters / North London, oh England / And maybe that’s ok,” Rowsell sings. In abandoning the self-consciousness which weighs down your twenties, Wolf Alice reach a point of hard-won serenity.

Rowsell shares: “It’s about not trying so hard to figure everything out, reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonise over things that have or haven’t happened in your life. It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarising aspects of one’s life when you’re in a band. You’ve just played a huge tour - and you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa. For me, it’s summed up in how I treat TV. I used to never watch the same thing twice because I thought I’ve got so much to discover! And now I’m like, It's okay if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the thirteenth time.”

Shot on the streets of the band's native North London in homage to the lyrics, the video for The Sofa captures the day-dreamy spirit of the song in boldly-coloured slow motion. Ellie is transported on a surreal fantasy through the euphoric messiness of British summertime street life while never leaving the comfort of her sofa. Inspired by classic street photography, these vignettes capture the blissed out interactions of people from all walks of life, celebrating the shared joy we feel with strangers on a sunny day. The video was directed by Fiona Jane Burgess (Christina Aguilera, girlinred, Gucci) and features numerous easter eggs for the band's up-coming album. Watch HERE.

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) marks 11th year with a tribute to community and collaboration

Thursday, July 10, 2025

This year’s month-long celebration returns with intimate shows, music talks, and a message of unity through music

This year marks an incredible milestone for Filipino music as Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) celebrates its 11th anniversary with a robust slate of events and programs designed to put a spotlight on the vibrant and evolving landscape of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

With the theme “LMP25: Ikaw. Ako. Tayo,” the month-long celebration honors the spirit of the community and collaboration that defines the Filipino musical identity.

Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit's (OPM) Executive Director Gab Cabangon emphasizes that this edition aims to embrace the culture of community and collaboration while celebrating how integral music is to the lives of the Filipino people. “This is why we have a mix of OPM Spotlight performances in different areas of Metro Manila that retained the ‘back-to-basics’ approach we had for LMP 2024 and the music talk series designed to inspire music artists to pursue artistic excellence and to create an accessible learning space for artists aspiring to become professionals in their field. It’s about bringing everyone in spaces to celebrate music together.”

He adds, “Apart from the learning opportunities that we included this year, this is also the first time that we have a lineup of artists who are all part of the membership of OPM. We have around 50 artists who will be performing for this year’s Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino.”

Organized by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), LMP25 brings together more than 50 artists across multiple venues in Metro Manila for a month-long series of performances, discussions, and workshops. The initiative aims to entertain and empower the next generation of Filipino music creators and deepen public appreciation for OPM in all its diversity.

OPM Spotlight: LMP25

From July 1 to August 1, audiences can look forward to a curated series of live shows across key venues in Metro Manila. The OPM Spotlight performances will showcase artists from OPM’s growing membership roster, each delivering sets comprised of original works and beloved OPM covers. The lineup brings together indie acts, rising stars, and iconic performers, offering a powerful cross-section of the Filipino music movement today.

Cabangon believes that celebrating Filipino music also means creating spaces for aspiring songwriters and artists to learn and expand their knowledge in music. Since the membership grew significantly this year, the focus was to provide as many opportunities as they can for OPM members. “This is probably the first time that our lineup is 100% made of artists who are part of the membership. We factored in style/genre, their music and storytelling approach, and, of course, their readiness and availability in the building of the lineup and schedule of activities for LMP. We’re happy that we have legends like Color It Red and Noel Cabangon who are going to perform during the LMP25 Celebrations. We also have rising OPM artists such as dwata, Solace Out the Door, and PhilPop Himig Handog Grand Champion Tiara Shaye among others as part of the lineup.”

LMP25: Music Talk Series

Set for July 26 (Saturday) at Greenhills Cinema, the LMP25: Music Talk Series is a half-day program designed to foster education and dialogue among music industry professionals, students, and aspiring artists. Featuring respected figures such as Paolo and Miguel Guico of Ben&Ben, Shadiel Chan, Jeli Mateo of Flip Music, and OPM legend Jim Paredes among others, the talks will tackle songwriting, music production from the label’s perspective, arrangement, licensing, and publishing. The sessions will provide rare but tried-and-tested insights into both the creative and commercial sides of music-making.

Cabangon explains that the LMP25 Music Talk Series will be a good start or stepping stone for artists to at least get a better grasp of the intricacies of our industry that go beyond the songwriting and performance. “We also want to be able to equip as many aspiring artists as possible with the knowledge and the tools to help them succeed and protect their rights as artists. We’ve also started discussing with other brands and organizations about possibly organizing more talks and connecting our members to programs that will help them expand their music industry knowledge. Hopefully in the long run, the LMP Music Talk Series is something we can expand and make more accessible to other artists.”

LMP25: Rockwell Series

From July 24 to 30, the LMP25 Rockwell Series presents a series of acoustic pop and singer-songwriter performances at the Power Plant Mall, Makati City. Held daily at 12:00 NN and 5:00 PM, the shows provide an intimate setting for audiences to connect with music and the artists behind it. All featured performers are OPM members, underscoring the organization’s commitment to supporting its growing community.

Celebrating progress, honoring roots

First established in 2014 through Proclamation No. 933 by the late former President Benigno Aquino III, the Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) was conceived as a national week-long celebration of Filipino music. Over the past 11 years, the OPM organization has played a crucial role in elevating the event into a cultural institution.

“We believe the objectives and the goals of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) have always been the same, which is to champion and to celebrate Filipino music,” says OPM Board Member Ogie Alcasid. “As an organization, OPM has always made efforts to try to be as inclusive as possible with the shows and programs that we organize for LMP. This is why the lineup of artists that we have is a mix of independent artists, rising OPM acts, and respected legends in our industry. We believe our efforts to try and be more inclusive, especially of our members, have helped in the evolution of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino.”

Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) presents LMP25 in collaboration with the following partners:

Rock Opong finds beauty in goodbye with new single “We Tried”

Rock Opong

Filipino singer-songwriter Rock Opong drops his latest single, “We Tried”—out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

“We Tried” captures the bittersweet journey of letting go, growing, and finding peace after love is lost. The tender, piano-led ballad tells the story of two people who gave their best to love each other, but in the end, had to walk away. There’s no drama and no betrayal, just the silent heartbreak of trying, failing, and remembering.

“It came from a very real and honest place,” the promising newcomer shares. “There was no big fallout—just two people trying so hard to make something work, and it still wasn’t enough. That kind of heartbreak can be the hardest to understand, and I wanted to give it a voice.”

The song’s emotional weight is matched by its minimalist production. Built around intimate piano lines, fingerpicked acoustic guitar, and hushed harmonies, “We Tried” lets each lyric breathe. Nothing is overproduced. Every sound is intentional and organic, echoing the raw honesty of the story.

“I didn’t want to hide behind metaphors,” says Opong. “I wanted it to feel like the conversation you wish you had before it ended. It represents closure that you carry in your own head, even if you never get to say it out loud.”

The song began almost by accident. During a casual Instagram Live, Opong offhandedly said, ‘We tried’—a phrase that lingered in his mind for weeks. When he finally sat down with his guitar, the words and melody came quickly and effortlessly. It was one of those rare songwriting moments when clarity and emotion align.

“So many people carry the weight of what-ifs in love,” Opong reflects. “This song is for them: for those who loved deeply, lost gently, and are still finding peace in the remembering. I hope it reminds them that it’s okay to mourn something that didn’t break, just faded.”Rock Opong’s “We Tried” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch the official music video of “We Tried” on Rock Opong's YouTube channel premiering at 6PM.
