Good Neighbors Philippines is bringing its advocacy for children’s welfare to the running community as it prepares to stage The Good Run Year 3 on November 22, 2026, at the UP Diliman National Science Complex in Quezon City. The event aims to help provide sustainable solar lights to children in Laak, Davao de Oro, where access to reliable electricity remains a challenge for some communities.
Carrying the theme “Light Up Their World,” the third edition of the charity run is co-presented by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) and SolarBuddy LIVE. The initiative connects public participation with a practical need: helping children continue reading and studying after sunset.
Solar lighting to support children's learning
In five farming barangays in Laak, a landlocked municipality in Davao de Oro, limited access to reliable electricity can make everyday activities after dark more difficult.
The communities identified for the initiative are Aguinaldo, Kilagding, San Antonio, Kidawa, and Longanapan.
Through its partnership with SolarBuddy LIVE, Good Neighbors Philippines plans to bring solar lights to children and families in these areas. The additional lighting is intended to give children more opportunities to study in the evening while helping households manage everyday tasks at home.
Access to dependable lighting can make a practical difference in how families use their time after sunset. For schoolchildren, it can provide more flexibility to read and complete schoolwork beyond daylight hours.
Corporate partnerships connect participation with social impact
The Good Run Year 3 brings together a nonprofit organization, a corporate partner, a solar-lighting initiative, and the running community around a shared social cause.
For CBTL, its participation reflects an opportunity to use its platform to support community-focused initiatives and encourage people to contribute beyond their usual routines.
The partnership also highlights how corporate social responsibility efforts can connect public engagement with specific community needs. In this case, participants can take part in a sporting event while supporting an initiative focused on children's learning environments.
The event is now in its third year and returns to UP Diliman, where it began. UP Run Club joins this year's edition as the official run club partner.
Three race distances open participation to more runners
Participants can choose from three distances: 2K, 5K, and 10K. The options make the event accessible to a range of participants, from beginners and families to more experienced runners.
Rather than focusing solely on personal fitness milestones, The Good Run encourages participants to connect their activity with a broader community initiative.

As The Good Run returns for its third year, the initiative offers participants an opportunity to support an effort that links community involvement with a practical need for children in Laak: access to lighting that can help them learn after dark.
