James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo, performers of “Aaminin,” the official theme song of Someone, Someday.

James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo have teamed up for “Aaminin,” a romantic pop ballad about the feelings that can develop between close friends. The song is now available worldwide on digital music platforms through Sony Music Entertainment and serves as the official theme song of the teleserye Someone, Someday.

Inspired by the longing and uncertainty of falling for a friend, the track explores what happens when unspoken feelings become too important to keep hidden.

James Reid writes from Jordan’s perspective

The song began with James’ idea to create original music inspired by Someone, Someday, particularly Jordan’s feelings for Billy, the character portrayed by Kathryn.

Following a discussion with director Chad Vidanes, James developed the lyrical concept around Jordan’s evolving romantic relationship and the vulnerability of admitting feelings that could change everything.

“I thought writing a song from Jordan’s perspective could be interesting,” James shared.

He collaborated with Jason Marvin on the track, with Jason also serving as producer. Their songwriting drew from the series’ script and character breakdowns, alongside personal emotions, to capture the characters’ experiences in a more intimate way.

Why Kathryn Bernardo joined the song

James said he and Jason had hoped Kathryn would join the recording after they finished working on the song. He expressed gratitude that she agreed to be part of the collaboration.

Having portrayed Jordan and Billy for nearly a year, James and Kathryn were already familiar with their characters’ emotional journey. That familiarity helped shape the duet, which brings together their voices to express the uncertainty and hope at the heart of the story.

James described the track as a simple yet beautiful song, adding that their vocals blended well.

A romantic ballad about honesty and hope

“Aaminin” takes a stripped-down musical approach, allowing the lyrics and vocal performances to carry the song’s emotional weight. Its intimate arrangement evokes a personal confession, reflecting the hesitation that comes with revealing feelings to someone who is already an important part of your life.

For James, the song is ultimately about trusting those feelings, even when the outcome remains uncertain.

“Aaminin is a song about hope and trusting your feelings, wherever they may lead,” he said.

The message complements Jordan and Billy’s story in Someone, Someday, while drawing on a familiar romantic dilemma: whether to risk changing a friendship by finally saying what is in your heart.
