mWell’s biggest nationwide online medical mission on August 27-28

Monday, August 29, 2022

A growing number of volunteer doctors, health experts and mental health advocates join forces with mWell for the biggest nationwide online medical mission.

mWell by Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (PSE: MPI), the Philippines’ fastest-growing health app, brings healthcare closer to Filipinos nationwide as it provides free online consultation via the mWell app on August 27-28. This program is mWell’s response to the need for medical advice to help our countrymen rebuild their lives in the new normal.

The event first held in September 2021 is now made even bigger with a wider number of family doctors, specialists, and even mental health experts from all over the country—on call for free, for every Filipino.

Doctors from Makati Medical Center Foundation and Makati Medical Center Wellness Center have volunteered their time to provide free online consultations via the mWell PH app. Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, mental health experts from MindNation have signed up to offer free counselling. Aside from volunteer doctors, National mWellness Day 2022 is made even stronger by diverse partnerships in one fully integrated platform. Among those powering up the advocacy are MPIC Foundation and top insurance companies-- PhilCare and Generali. Unilab, MedExpress, 24 Alkaline-C and PiCur antioxidant are also on board.

Free video consultation and more!

National mWellness Day, mWell’s flagship advocacy, is part of MPIC’s sustainability mission to make quality healthcare accessible for all. On the event dates, anyone can talk to an expert from the comforts of home—for free! Participants simply need to download mWell PH app, register, click the National mWellness Day banner, and use the Health Pass code: FREECONSULT. They can then choose from volunteer primary care doctors, specialists, and mental health experts. After the consultation, the doctor shall provide medical certificate, e-prescription, referrals for tests—all for free, right on the app.

Pulling out all the stops, mWell has prepared additional health rewards for the first one hundred patients who will consult for free: vitamin vouchers from MedExpress, with free shipping. They will also receive free laboratory exams including x-ray, complete blood count, and emergency outpatient coverage valid for one year from PhilCare.

Doctors and clinics all over the country are welcome to be part of the National mWellness Day to reach more patients nationwide and provide them with accessible, responsive, and convenient medical care. It takes less than an hour to sign up via www.mwell.com.ph. Only PRC ID is required.

Ms. Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Chief Finance, Risk and Sustainability Officer of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation underscores the importance of sustainability initiatives such as National mWellness Day. Cabal-Revilla says, “Our collective efforts across the group, have allowed us to have a pervasive impact in our respective areas of influence. Embedding sustainability in all aspects of our business resonates with our people and translates into better and more purposeful service to our customers.”

National mWellness Day is in support of the MVP Group’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy focusing on quality and affordable healthcare. MPIC President, Chairman and CEO, Manny V. Pangilinan says, “Filipinos now have better access to healthcare through mWell’s integrated digital healthcare ecosystem with a wide and sustainable network of medical experts and services.”

In time for National mWellness Day, mWell has put together a portable digital clinic which provides access to healthcare through technology and connectivity tools—in one convenient carryall. mWell OnTheGo is designed to be used in remote barangay health units, even those without access to electricity. The main element of the package are tablets and phone units preloaded with an mWell app containing a health pass code which can be used to avail of free online consultation. Also in the bag are foldable solar panels, battery, and Smart pocket wifi. mWell also provides chosen communities with a thermometer, oximeter, sphygmomanometer, basic over-the-counter medicines, and vitamins.

mWell OnTheGo proves that mWell is indeed a wellness partner anytime, anywhere. mWell OnTheGo beneficiaries include Dumagats in Ipo Watershed, Norzagaray, Bulacan, in Kaliwa Watershed, General Nakar, Quezon and in Marikina Watershed, Antipolo; and Manobos in Agusan Marsh, Agusan del Sur.

As part of the MPIC Group, mWell is committed to work towards the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. It also supports the MVP Group’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy focusing on quality and affordable healthcare.

UPS offers boost to SMBs with launch of enhanced services in the Philippines

Thursday, August 25, 2022

UPS (NYSE: UPS), one of the world’s largest integrated logistics providers, has introduced new service enhancements in the Philippines to boost international trade prospects for many of the country’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMB).

The enhancement sees pickup times for export shipments and customer service bookings from the National Capital Region (NCR), Laguna and Batangas extended up to one hour.

Meanwhile coverage of UPS’s Worldwide Express Freight (WWEF) service – a guaranteed door-to-door express freight service that delivers heavy, palletized shipments to destinations worldwide in as little as one business day – has also been expanded to 129 more postal codes in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Tarlac, and Zambales.

“When we talk to small business owners, they often tell us they wish they had more hours in a day; so we’re delighted to be able extend pickup cutoff times to give our SMB customers in these areas more time to increase the number of orders they can process on a daily basis,” said UPS Philippines Managing Director Russell Reed.

“Getting those orders delivered to customers on time is also vital. UPS Worldwide Express Freight is a guaranteed service that allows businesses to replenish inventory faster and reduce the risk of stock-outs thereby improving their customers’ experience. Manufacturers can rely on receiving critical inventory and replacement parts quickly to minimize costly downtime.”

These enhanced services come as the Asian Development Bank raised its 2022 growth forecast for the Philippine economy to 6.5% from a previous 6% projection in July, following relaxed mobility restrictions in the country, increased vaccinations as well as a rebound in investment and household consumption. The growth is expected to trickle down to the rural countryside and across the provinces, cities, and towns.

Any Name’s Okay navigates the growing pains of adulthood in new EP, Leaving Home

 Any Name’s Okay

Its focus track “Takbo” tackles themes of running away from burnout and hustle culture

Filipino alternative pop band Any Names Okay has finally dropped their much-awaited sophomore EP,Leaving Home via Sony Music Philippines. Taking a huge step forward in terms of musical and creative direction, the 6-track release digs deeper into the journey of navigating adulthood and embracing the uncertainty that comes with the process.

“As a band, we’re maturing in our songwriting and the way that we operate as creatives,” shares the five-piece outfit. “We want to grow old with our listeners—which can be scary, but very exciting. A lot of those fears and joys can be found in this collection of songs.”

Lyrically, the band’s new EP, Leaving Home expands on introspective and existential themes—sometimes rendered in emotionally blunt details, but most of the time, exhibiting some of the growing pains that one has to go through in their transitional period towards maturity. The promising newcomer explains, “We’ve all been through the wringer the last few years, and this was a much-needed emotional release for everyone. We believe that a thorough listen of the EP, however, still shows that same heart, energy, and sincerity that people have come to know of us.”

Its focus track “Takbo” is one of the standout cuts in the EP as it tackles breaking free from the socio-economic fatigue that is burnout and hustle culture. According to the band, the song is all about running for running’s sake: playing with the imagery of aching muscles and exhausting activities, with its destination and goal to no avail. “While the song is an ode to the tired and tireless self, the reprise that it ends with is dedicated to hope— the hope that this is all for something, that you grow stronger the more you run,” Any Name’s Okay points out.

The release of the song comes with a visual that encapsulates the feeling of weightlessness in all that running. Helmed by Miko Reyes, the music video depicts “a person floating in and out of their world.”

The Yugto band adds, “Familiar to a lot of us, we can feel lost even in the happiest of places. Similar to the track itself, the end shows that there is a point to all the running; it just takes a bit of time to recognize it.”

Leaving Home is written and produced by Any Name’s Okay themselves, but with the help of their long-time pal, Luigi Del Rosario for one of their singles, “Limbo.” Frequent collaborator Tim Recla and Nick Azurin also mixed and mastered all the songs in the EP, respectively, giving it a more gossamer-sounding vibe.

Leaving Home Track list:

1. Yugto
2. Snooze
3. Limbo
4. Takbo
5. Today I Want To Live
6. Discovery

The EP launch happening on August 20, 2022 at Dirty Kitchen (Gravity Art Space), Quezon City is already sold out. But for those who would be joining the band as they perform the tracks from the EP live, you’re in for a treat.

“We’ve prepared some secret performances that you’ll just have to wait and see,” says Any Name’s Okay. “Showgoers will be getting first dibs on our brand-new merchandise, as well as get the chance to join our giveaways. We’re definitely doing our best to make the launch equally as exciting for everyone there!”

Any Name’s Okay’s second EP, Leaving Home is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines. Watch the music video of its focus track “Takbo” here.

McDonald's joins Brigada Eskwela 2022, bolsters support as face-to-face classes resume

Reinforcing its commitment to make a difference through programs that support Filipino children’s need for education, QSR giant McDonald’s Philippines through its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities, once again extends its support to schools for the annual Brigada Eskwela.

Led by the Department of Education (DepEd), Brigada Eskwela gathers volunteers from both the private and public sector every year to help prepare public elementary and secondary schools for the upcoming school year. Since 2015, McDonald’s and RMHC have been providing meals, cleaning materials, and Ronald McDonald Read-to-Learn kits to partner schools.

This year, the company distributed over 20,000 Burger McDo to educators and volunteers, while 1,000 Happy Meal toys and 20 sets of Read-To-Learn kits were provided to elementary schools. These kits are part of RMHC’s Read-To-Learn program, a program in partnership with DepEd, which provides reading materials to Grade 1 and Grade 2 learners in public schools as well as trains educators on teaching beginning reading.

Grounded by its core value of malasakit, employee-volunteers from McDonald's also took time from their daily routine to help prepare and distribute meals, and clean school premises, to ensure that both students and teachers alike, can hold classes in a safe and conducive learning environment.

Meanwhile, the company also allocated streamers, welcome banners, and safety signages to over 4,000 schools, in an effort to ensure that government-mandated COVID-19 protocols are still being followed as face-to-face classes resume.

“On behalf of our Chairman and Founder Dr. George Yang and President and CEO Kenneth Yang, congratulations to the Department of Education led by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte on the launch of the 2022 Brigada Eskwela program. Makakaasa kayo na nandito ang McDonald’s at ang kaniyang charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities, para makatulong sa inyong paghahanda para sa simula ng bagong school year,” said McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director Margot Torres during the Brigada Eskwela Kick Off.

With the generosity of Filipinos, the support of partners, and the efforts of volunteers, RMHC can achieve more. Anyone can help share feel-good moments to those in need by donating at rmhc.org.ph/donate.
