As volcanic activity from Mayon Volcano continues to affect communities in Albay, many families remain displaced in evacuation centers while authorities maintain Alert Level 3. In response, Globe Telecom is strengthening its relief and recovery initiatives to support residents facing ongoing disruptions caused by the volcano’s activity.
Through its #AlagangGlobe initiative and partnerships with humanitarian organizations, Globe continues to provide food assistance, essential supplies, and connectivity support to affected communities across the province.
Globe Delivers Food Assistance to Evacuation Centers
From May 7 to 8, Globe worked closely with local government units and Rise Against Hunger Philippines to distribute meal packs and grocery supplies to evacuation centers and communities impacted by the eruption.
Relief efforts included:
- 1,000 meal packs distributed in Brgy. Muladbucad Pequeño, Guinobatan
- 540 meal packs delivered to Bariw Evacuation Center in Camalig
- 105 meal packs provided to Baligang Evacuation Center in Ligao City
- 200 additional grocery food packs distributed to families in Agpay, Guinobatan, and Baligang Evacuation Center
These initiatives aim to provide immediate nourishment and support for evacuees who continue to face uncertainty due to volcanic activity.
Globe Customers Help Power Relief Efforts
The ongoing assistance is made possible through donations from Globe customers using Globe Rewards and GoGIVE via the GlobeOne app.
By converting rewards points into donations, customers are helping provide essential aid to families displaced by the eruption. The initiative highlights how digital platforms can mobilize communities to extend support during emergencies.
Ayala Foundation to Expand Community Support
Additional relief operations are also set to continue through Ayala Foundation Inc. and #BrigadangAyala, which will distribute 1,000 food packs in Camalig City and Guinobatan in the coming days.
The collaborative effort reflects a wider network of organizations coming together to support affected residents across Albay.
Globe Reaffirms Commitment to Affected Communities
According to Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s continued ground operations are focused on making sure communities feel supported during this difficult period.
She shared that collaboration with local partners allows the organization to respond more effectively to the evolving needs of evacuees.
Meanwhile, Jomar Fleras emphasized the importance of providing hot and nutritious meals in evacuation settings, especially for families facing prolonged displacement.
Staying Connected During Emergencies
Aside from relief distribution, Globe Telecom continues to maintain network reliability across affected areas to help residents stay informed and connected with loved ones during the crisis.
As the situation surrounding Mayon Volcano develops, Globe says it remains committed to supporting communities through immediate relief efforts and continued communication services.
