UltraPak, one of the country's leading hog feeds, manufactured by ADM, recently announced the conclusion of its successful nationwide raffle promo entitled "ULTRA PANALO sa ULTRAPAK." The promo was mounted in support of the country's hog-raising industry badly hit by the African Swine Fever (ASF) pandemic in 2019 that saw a shortage of supply and prompted the country to import its pork requirements.
The live grand raffle event happened at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu and was aired via live stream and posted on UltraPak's official YouTube page. DTI representatives from Cebu supervised it. This was the brand's first-ever nationwide raffle promo and generated more than 15 million entries nationwide.
ADM Philippines Managing Director Lorenzo Mapua hailed the success of the raffle. "ADM Philippines' commitment in helping alleviate the livelihood of hog raisers nationwide will be consistent. We want to ensure that our partners in the hog-raising industry will support them for a profitable hog-raising. This raffle promo is our way of showing them that despite challenges that the country has faced with the COVID-19 pandemic and the ASF among the farms, we at ADM Philippines will be steadfast with our mission to be their partner in their hog raising business," said Mapua.
Ultra Panalo sa UltraPak raffle promo awarded prizes that included Isuzu D-Max Pick-Ups, Rusi Chariot, Honda Beat motorcycles, Mini-Refrigerators, Smart TV, Samsung Cellphone, SM Gift Checks, home appliances, and safety kits. A total of 758 winners received these exciting prizes from UltraPak. Other participating products in the promo include, PrimePAK, BudgetPak The Savermix
Popular and Warhawk.

The nationwide raffle promo was a significant boost to the backyard hog raisers in light of the declining pork supply and its subsequent rise in prices. Since the last quarter of 2019, the issue of the low supply and the rising cost of pork has been of particular concern for the government and the general public. As a result, the price of pork meat in Metro Manila surged by 77 percent in January and has helped drive up the inflation rate of the meat sector by as much as 17.1 percent, according to the Department of Trade and Industry.
In a recent report published in pigprogress.net, cases of African Swine Fever (ASF), things appear to get under control in the Philippines. Reports show that active cases of ASF are declining and confined to less than 1 percent of the nearly 3,000 villages that recorded outbreaks since the first cases were detected in 2019. That happened as testing of an ASF vaccine is now underway in the Philippines.
